Actually, Phil...

As long as it's an "H" (in engine number)
Series A, the later models are better as
far as I know considering they are 
thickwalled ("thick flanged"). I have also
heard the smog heads have a better
flowing combustion chamber then early
non-smog 1275's as well...anyone out
there "know" so as to confirm or deny?

OTOH...
If it's an "L" engine (low compression)
you can probably run it on 87PON unleaded instead of "hi-test",
considering
the original 948's at 8.3-1 called for
94RON (min) which would be about
equal to 89PON.

'Course there is no way to know the
condition of the gearbox but I would
think a "leakdown" might be appropriate
for the engine, maybe? (depending upon
circumstances.

If all is in good, useable shape (?) it's a good deal, IMHO.
