Kent Cams scattered cams are very similar. part# 286 SP
is eqivalent to the SPVP3 the 296SP the SPVP4 and the
310SP the SPVP5.
The SPVP3 and 4 are intented for road/rally and rally/race use
where a reasonably wide power band is required. If use for
rally applications the silencer muffler must have be a low
back pressure design. The SPVP5 ia an all out race design
and should only be used as such.
Just if you were wondering?

A flat spot (most especially with a VP3
Kent 276+ cam) is not unusual with a
45DCOE using the larger 4.5 or 5.0
aux venturi. You will notice this carb
configured for racing uses the smaller
3.5 aux vent which brings the main
system "in" a little earlier in the game.
Was using 1.4+ intake valves and a
VP3 cam.
Noticing this, I changed out my 4.5's
for 3.5's and jetted upwards accordingly
to 145 mains and 175 air correctors while
retaining the 50F9 idle jets the carb
came with.
(Then I rechecked the ign. timing to make
sure I wasn't overadvanced.....not).
Better with the 3.5's.....now
no flat spot on acceleration except
at immediate WOT from idle, so
went up .05 on
the pump jets. Solved the problem.
