but the first step of a "standard flare" is a bubble flare before you
invert it into a "standard flare". have them get the tool and if it is
exactly what i think you will recieve the flaring instructions will be
inside the vynal case's lid. before you purchase it look closely at the
steps that are shown . it'll be something like square cut the end of the
tube, camfer the edges of the tube slightly before clamping the tube at a
certain height in the holding fixture, insert the piece that makes the
bubble into the end of the tube and then press the piece down onto the end
of the tube. at that point you have achieved a bubble on the end of the
tube. on numerous vehicles that use lockheed or girling (some german
cars as well!) use a combination of bubble flare on one end of a tube and
double flare (or what is concieved as a standard flare) on the opposite end
of the same tube. tubes such as that are not available at parts stores.
i hand fabricate and fit those tubes here per aplication. what you need is
a tube that has SAE and metric threaded nuts to acomodate the midgets
plumbing to the fiat plumbing. once you posess the tool yer gonna find
out how neat it is to be able custom bend a tube that fits exactly where you
want it and the specific route you need it to run.
now 1 word of caution! make a few test runs with the tool on some tubing
that you are not going to install in the car! the first few attempts might
turn out ok, but rather do a few practice shots before you do the carefully
bent custom fitted piece to be certain you are familiar with the tool's
operation. improperly done a flare can lay over to one side as opposed to
being straight onto the intended seat causing a leak or possibly damaging
the intended seat. so some tests will save you the agrivation of redoing
the tube or needing to replace the intended item it attaches to. :)
BTW!!!! remember to put the right nut onto the tube BEFORE you flare the
tube! (oh yes in the excitement of knowing the job will be done as soon as
you flare the tube....it can happen! ;) ....)
chuck
been there.....broke that! then had ta fix it.......again!
