"I TOTALLY AGREE!! I have wondered if fitting the heated Mercedes seats is
possible............
THAT is solving the freezing problem, AT THE SOURCE!!!"

As I was reading this Digest, I was considering removing the heated seats from
the Saab. But, the MG was warm enough tonight coming home from work at an
outside temp of 5 degrees F. So, what the heck - leave the heated seats to my
wife. It was warm enough in the MG to unzip my jacket & drive without gloves.
And, that after only a couple of miles of driving a car that was parked
outside all day.

I have been using my MG's during Connecticut winters since 1993. First couple
of years were cold. Then I bought some of the heater upgrades from MGOC
catalog. That helped. I also: flush the heater core well every year; make
sure the thermostat works properly; installed a REAL heater valve from the
plumbing supply dept. at the hardware store (Only adjustable under the hood.
But, that's all I need.) & hogged out the water outlet in the head. That last
operation doubled the size of the hole in the head (not the one on my
shoulders) and increased hot water flow substantially.

The above activities work well enough that I no longer need to plug all of the
openings like at the juncture of the door, top & the rear of side window. The
heater blows enough hot air to more than compensate.

So, if you Spridget is too cold inside, check, flush, clear & warm up. If all
else fails steal the wife's heated seat - if your alternator puts out enough
amps. Sorry, Lucas generators don't.

Oh, how nice it is in Florida!
