Sometimes you cannot trust the number on the frame plate... They get switched 
around due to title problems a lot! Check for the VIN stamped on the rear side 
of the shock base on the passenger side. That is the real VIN.
A Mk. III will have a take off top vs. the fold down top of the Mk. IV. The Mk. 
III had the 1098 engine. The early Mk. IVs had the pre-smog 1275. Thin wall 
block, no air rails or recirculation pump and higher compression than the smog 
models. The engine number should start with 12CC.

I did some research on the car number HAN8L 63417 makes it a Mk. III Sprite, 
does it not?
