Just had S.O.'s Air conditioning replaced Freon with new refrigerant. Garage 
pumped out old refrigerant and added new refrigerant material. Cost was approx 
$210. Cost for freon was the same at more than $50 per little can 4 required 
plus labor. New refrigerant cost is $8 per can when it needs to be topped off 
in a few years. It was a wash. 
 
Car was an '88 Mercedes 190E. AC is ice cold now.
