Welding a leaky tank is best done by a pro. I saw a friend of mine send a VW
Beetle tank sky high when the welder touched it. It was throughly rinsed
with water beforehand.
For a quick temporary fix, I have used Phenoseal caulk, it is water
based, not effected by gas, and holds up well.
It depends on how large the hole is too. I emptied the tank, squirted
some Phenoseal on a screw and screwed it into the hole.
Worked for me.
