Dave...
Well said as far as it goes....and you've an excellent point with
respect to extended warranty as well.
But basically, we are talking a rebuilt
engine and the cause of it's replacement
might very well be an "ill conceived"
maintenance procedure in view of the
fact we're talking an "interference"
motor.
This does not make the dealer responsible
but who wrote the maintenance procedure? I mean, somebody "upstairs"
really had their head up their a--, considering we're talking an
"interference"
application.
The good part about this is the customer's
following the recommended maintenance
schedule right up to the failure.
Whether the mfg. will help
the customer out considering a poorly
conceived maintenance procedure
in a vehicle which has been meticulously
maintained "in" and/or "out of warranty
remains to be seen. One can only try
and hope for the best, state & DMV legal
statutes notwithstanding. Volvo stakes
it's reputation on how well-built and
"tough" their product is in Sweden's
"severe" environment.
My guess is Volvo "executive" will be
reasonable. Could I be wrong? Sure! :)
