Geez...Talk about kicking the ant hill over! Choice. All this is about
choice. For those of us who prefer dry techie babble and nothing else...you
now have a choice. For all the rest of us...we have a choice too. The ONLY
problem that I have with a moderated list that is going to have the LBC topics
fed to it individually to "weed out" the "junk" is that you have to rely on MJB
to do it. Not that the man isn't reliable...because the fact that this list
has gone on as long as it has proves to the reliability of the service. What I
am saying is, that if you go to a moderated list...you have to think...what all
is being thrown out? I mean, If someone replies "yes...it worked" and that's
the whole post...I would think that's a candidate for being tossed...BUT...what
if that message was in response to some incredible new "shortcut" that actually
made some job shorter and easier...but because their response got thrown
out...the moderated people never knew if the shortcut actually worked or not.
(of course...those people probably already knew anyways) I know that may not
be the best example, but I think it makes my point. Me personally...I delete
most of what I get, but I do read most of it...if for no other reason than to
just decide for myself what I want to delete and what not to delete. There's
been more than one occasion where I've found something useful out of a
seemingly "meaningless" post. So...in a nutshell...if you complain about going
off topic...now you don't have to...you can just go to the other list. Of
course, you'll be missing out on THIS list, and you'll have to rely on someone
else to deem what's appropriate and what's not, but hey...that's your choice.
Basically...no more complaining about it...because the complainers now have
somewhere to go. :) THANKS MJB!
