provides these people with an option that may suit them better. If it isn't
what you want, don't subscribe. What is gained by treating thoise who might

It isn't quite that simple, and you know it. We have here, a group of 2/300
people who enjoy talking about little British cars, and keep a steady rapport
going. Legitimate car questions are usually answered in a matter of minutes,
and never more than 24 hours unless they are real toughies. Most of us are
happy with this state of affairs. A year ago, you proposed the experiment.
It doesn't appear that it has worked really well, probably wouldn't have
worked at all had everone made a choice for one or the other and lived with
it. As I understand it, there have been about 150 posts total for the
moderated list since last January--not exactly a howling success. Now you
are saying that you will monitor the unmonitored list for redeeming LBC
content and spoon feed it to the mod group. Why would you want to do that?
LBC traffic gets slow around Christmas in the northern hemisphere. There is
ice and snow over a good portion of the country, and it is unconfortable to
play with our cars. Other subjects just naturally take over. This seems to
upset some listers and they complain to majordomo.
Even on the unmonitored list, we usually indicate no LBC in our off topic
posts. If the purists want to dump the posts, they are certainly free to do
so. I regularly dump posts involving 1500 engines--I don't have one, don't
intend to, know nothing about them, but they definitely belong on this list.
You don't see them flocking to the Triumph list, do you?
The problem seems to be that you, Mark, are trying to change the Spridget
list to a dry as dust all tech question and answer session. And while some
of the listers are willing to plow through questions from both lists, some of
us aren't. we want some fun--whether it is a new baby, breaking 300 pounds
for the first time in years, or whatever.
My fear is that you will prefer to keep the less popular, more easily
controlled, and less active all-technical list. And you are ultimately the
boss. Like I said, if that happens, I will miss the folks on this list. I
don't plan to make a move to the new one unless it becomes more personal.
