I haven't actually taken my 1500 crank out yet, but I did take that big nut off
on the stand. Whatcha gotta do is this: get a 2x4 or similar piece of wood and
wedge it between the crank and the block. Then get a 1 15/16 socket (I bought
one at sears, cost about $20. If you want to borrow it let me know.), your
biggest breaker bar, and a cheater bar of 1" dia gas pipe. Then remove the nut.
It will come off. The 2x4 keeps the crank from rotating, and the block is
strong enough to resist the torque you're putting on the nut. :)
