Try putting petroleum jelly(vaseline) in the pump
before assembly. Been doing this for several decades
now. You'll get pressure almost instantly upon start
up. I've heard of people using this stuff on engine
bearings when they knew it would be sitting up for a
very long time (year plus) before startup.
