Well-
Controlled turbulence is, in addition, a
good mixture "mixer-upper", so I can
see one of these on the inlet side, especially in carburetted
applications.
But "outbound"? Hah! Now, if you could
mix cool (relatively) outside air into the
exhaust flow by the tip (a la Ferrari),
you'd have something going for you in
terms of extraction, especially at speed,
and a quieter exhaust note, to boot.
