Thanks to everyome that replied with suggestion to my problem. After some
additional thoughts and observations today, I've come to the conclusion
that this is being caused by the coolant leak. I think the turbo is blowing
some coolant or at least some water vapor back toward the combustion side
of things causing the missing. Once the manifold heats up enough to close
the gap, it stops. I guess I have a sort of water injection going on here,
though not desirable in this case.
