When I swapped my twin 1.25s for a single 1.5 HS4 on my completely stock
1275, I was quite pleased at the increase in power....set off a chain
reaction where I decided I needed more power, had to get a header, then a
better exhaust, now I gotta work on my head.....

Subject: Re: what about a single 1.5 su?
All the bores aren't sucking on the same straw at the same time. When their
turn comes, they 'see' a bigger hole. When I swapped the 1.25" single carb
on the turbo 1275 for a single 1.5, the HP went right on up. The car was
already pretty darn fast with the single 1.25 feeding the turbo for the
reason above. Now with the 1.5, I really wouldn't want to get much faster
with a street car. One is enough.
