I started out with a 3.9 and a 5 speed, I went to the 4.22.
Others have used the 3.7 with a 5 speed but I would imagine the
accelleration with that combo would be equivalent to a VW bus, cirrca
1964. You will be able to cruise at 95 mph all day long and still get 65
miles per gallon :)
All 79s came with a 3.7 (if unmolested)
If you do a lot of highway driving, go for it.
If you want to beat the coffee can exhaust rice boys off the line, don't
do it.
