The doorplates do not indicate color. The left door plate number was not
recorded for production purposes, but I believe a number used by the
manufactures of the body. Bodies were built in a different facility. The
right door post number (starting BAE) was recorded as was the engine and
chassis number, You can find out production details, including original
color, by requesting a build certificate from British Motor Industry
Heritage Trust (BMIHT). They cost approx $50. You can find out more here:

You should also be able to find the original color somewhere on the car
that would not have been painted, perhaps in the trunk somewhere or the
inside of a bonnet hinge. You can look up original colors and paint codes
