My '74 (smogged 1275) in original form was definitely quicker than my old
'66 (1098), but the engine didn't rev as freely up top. Now in desmogged
form, and with a few Vizard style bolt ons, it's much quicker and revs much
better up top too. Maybe my old 1098 wasn't a quick one, but it seemed to
run pretty good.

than emission controlled engines but
torque is the same.
Upgrade from 948 or 1098 is in the torque
produced for stock street applications, making the stock 1275 more
"useable"
in this particular respect, though arguably
"marginally" so. Depends on your point
of view, I guess?
