There's only one way to deal with a car dealer.........walk. Once you give in to
these guys, it's all over.
Years ago a friend's father was ready to take delivery on a new Oldsmobile that
he ordered. The dealer added an option to the car that he didn't want. When the
salesman told the buyer the car was $65.00 more (this was a long time ago), my
buddy's father calmly told him, that's not the car I ordered. I'll wait for the
correct car.
You aren't going to make any headway by showing your hand. Once you let on that
you "just have to have this car" and what they are selling is special, you've
compromised your position. If it's a car that's being sold over list, they will
just stonewall you anyway. Sure, you can contact the Dept of Consumer Protection
or the Attorney General's office, but why go through the grief.
There are plenty of Mazda dealers. Walk to another and strike your deal. Can't
get the Ltd Edition? There will be more Ltd Edition Mazdas and there are plenty
of desirable standard issues.
Look at it this way. This is just a signal that this deal wasn't meant to be.
