I remember Howdy Dowdy. It was a localy produced show here in Baltimore. In
those days shows were live and had an audience of local kids groups. I went
one day with our Cub Scout Den and when they were ready to go to a
commercial the camera(s) would pan the audience. I didn't know about looking
for the red light to tell if the camera was working or not. During one break
the camera just to my right turned and started to pan the audience. I
jumped up and put my face right in the lens like I was trying to look inside
of the camera. My mother was home watching and when I got home she jumped
all over me. Seems that camera was working and all of america got to see my
face close up!
