Shelden:
I ran into this same problem when I coated the tank, not realizing there
was
a gauze filter at the bottom of the pick-up.
I think my people used a wire through the
pick-up hole and beat the hell out of the
gauze filter to open it up. This ruins it's
ability to filter, so we set up an in-line filter just outside the tank
before the fuel
pump, in addition to the one in the engine
compartment prior to the carbs. and changed it as a matter of
preventative
maintenance every second LOF. Worked fine.
Yeah, Sheldon, pull or get the damn thing off any way you can. The
pickup lies not
more than 1/2" off the "floor" of the bottom
of the tank, my friend. You may have to reach in there with a "long"
something and
patiently "work at it" (careful of the pipe)
to get the damn thing off. May have to find
some one with "skinny" hands. What a PITA. Good luck; just patiently
pick at it.
