Shelden,
The Winner's Circle in Cleveland OH area (216)
221-4666; and APT (www.aptfast.com). APT has a
recommendation of what header to use for your
application on their site. This should help you with
your selection. The APT people say the following:
"Maniflow Company, located in Southern England make
what many believe to be the best fitting, and best
made exhaust components available. In all honesty there
is very probably little performance difference in say
a long center branch LCB header from Maniflow and
brand X from somewhere else,BUT... the fit, finish,
quality of workmanship and life of these components is
going to impact your enjoyment of your vehicle for
many years to come. One very important point regarding
headers. The Long Center branch is the type to use in
99% of all applications, especially for road or
vintage racing. The 3 into 1 type header was developed
originally for the big bore short stroke 970 S motors
with a long duration cam like a sprint or super sprint
grind. This worked well in this case ie. it made some
more top end power - above 8000 RPM! For 99% of all
cams now in use, either performance or race, the LCB
header will give much better overall performance, and
especially will add more torque in the low to mid
range (right where you need it the most). Race track
testing has proven the LCB to give quicker lap times.
Unless you are running at the salt flats only use a
LCB."
Hope this helps you.
