Everything adds weight and very little bit adds up. When I have my bonnet
and front wing resprayed to match the same red as the rest of the car I am
having them stripped back to bare metal for the very reason that I don't want
excess paint from old and unneeded layers of the old colour.
Caterham do cars with either only a few coats or no paint (aluminium or
carbon) to save weight.
