Most people who have switched have done so at the first oil chalnge, about
3,000 miles. My father changed to Mobil 1 in his 95 Ford ranger V6 at the first
oil change. He's probably got around 100,000 miles on the truck by now and no
leaks. There are a few people who have bought brand new cars and had the oil
changed to Mobil 1 before driving them off the lot. Keep in mind these are
modern autos that tend to run 5W30 oil or lighter. There have been arguements
made that synthetic is too slippery to allow a proper "break-in" of a new
engine.

If I were to switch I'd probably do it at the first oil change.
