Mike,
I seem to remember you have a completely rebuilttransmission, but the two
places I would check are the rear seal where the driveshaft slips in and
the side inspection cover. If it's the rear yoke leaking, you won't be able
to see it from underneath but rather have to look through the shifter
opening for oil in the belly pan. Oil can run out the back of the tranny if
the car is on an uphill incline. It could leak even if you have a new seal
in the tranny if the yoke has pits (like your axle housing). I had this
problem with the Morris and fixed it with a new seal and changing the yoke.
The other place to check is the side inspection cover. They are often put
together without any sealer and there are two springs under the forward
edge of the cover. If a couple nuts are even a little loose it will leak...
badly. They should be easy to access from under the car. I hope either of
these are the source of your problem so you don't have to pull the engine.
