Hagerty says in their advertising that they put no restrictions on how much
you can drive your car. They require that you have another car as a daily
driver, and they require that you keep your classic in a garage. If you
specifically ask an agent if you can drive the car to work, they will
strongly discourage it by telling you that you can't. But that's not what it
says in their ad. (It's simple. Drive your other car to work.)

Most other classic insurers have a set limit on how many miles you can put on
the car every year. You pay more if you want more miles. Hagerty does not,
but their intention is that you NOT drive it to work every day.

Keep in mind that some classic insurers also have a clause that you have to
be present with the car if it is not locked in the garage. This precludes
taking the car out to a restaurant, unless it is a drive in and you will stay
in the car. I have heard of someone who's car was hit when he was inside a
restaurant, and he was not covered because the car was out of his sight.
Scary, isn't it? (Read the fine print.)

BTW, please do not try to get around any insurance company policies. (Not
you Jay! I meant the list in general.) Insurance companies have seen it
all. You will NOT get away with anything, your insurance will be canceled,
you will have difficulty getting other insurance, and rates will go up for
everybody. Insurance companies may not be the most friendly folks in the
world, but they sure know how to get even.
