Most of the recent viruses (sp?) are more virulent depending on
which mail client you use.

For example, some e-mail clients, like M'Soft Outlook and
Eudora, insist on opening any attached files for you (presumably
because you're too stupid to open them yourself??). Thus,
when you "open" the mail, you activate the attachment, which spreads
the virus.

On the other hand, e-mail clients like Netscape Messenger only
put the mail objects, with their attendent attachments, in the mail folder
(actually in a compressed file) until you activate the attachment (usually
by double-clicking it) yourself. So if you don't open the attachment
you are safe.

Is there a lesson here?? Actually two lessons:

A. Use only mail clients like Netscape Messenger.
2. Don't open (double-click) attachments you are not sure of.

Later,

chuck
