Lee,
How many layers of paint are there??
If there are more than two, you should probably strip it first, or at least
sand
it down to the original layer. If there are 'multiple paint jobs, and one of
the
upper layers is showing any signs of peeling or flaking, you will soon regret
painting over it, and your new paint job will have been a waste of time, and $$.
If it is the original paint, as long as you prep the surface well (especially
in
the cracks and crevices) the new paint should be fine.
