I switched to a pre-engaged starter from a bendix type on my Sprite and it
starts as sweet as a nut. Curt is right (IMHO) that it is the bendix motor
that needs the bevelled teeth to engage with the pre-engaged is much less
fussy or hard on the ring gear.
My two pence worth.
