Spridgeteers,
When I pulled my engine for rebuild, about the only thing that went
haywire was that the water temperature transmitter (the bulb that
screws into the head) would not properly loosen. I ended up breaking
it by unscrewing the outer collar with the inner collar frozen to it.
I've just checked with a pan of hot water, and the gauge is not
registering. Moss wants ~$150 for this gauge with the transmitter
bulb (I assume). Three questions:
1. Can a new transmitter bulb can be fit onto the old gauge or must
one buy the whole assemblage?
2. If the transmitter can be attached separately, who sells them?
3. If the whole assemblage must be replaced, what is a good source
(i.e., for substantially less than $150) or alternative solution?
TIA,
Jeff
