Mike,
I have double bearing hubs on my vintage race Bugeye. When I put the car
back together after it's retirement from racing, I recall that it was the
head of the wheel studs that was rubbing the edge of the rubber boot of the
wheel cylinder. I can't remember it it made contact with the springs too.
We ground a bevel on the outer edge of each stud and that seems to have
cured it. It seems we put the springs behind the shoe instead of in front
as well. I'm not sure if these are the same as the Mini-mania hubs, but the
clearance is close non-the-less.
