After our beloved cars were made, Great Britain decided to change their
currency from old pounds to new pounds, and later to add the Euro. I think
they also revalued temperature ratings and some other rather nebulous things
at the same time, just to see if anybody was watching.
Actually, I don't know the answer to your question, but I have way too much
time on my hands. You could change thermostats in the summer. If you have a
195 degree thermostat in the car, it will probably run at 195 degrees. In
the old days we used to change thermostats every 6 months. In the fall you
put in a 195 so you had some heat, in the spring you changed it to 160 or 170
for cooler summer running.
