Patrick is correct. Play sand is not as abrasive as sand cut for
blasting.
It comes in various grits like sandpaper (70 being a good grit to do
fenders)
Beach sand like play sand will work but they take 4 times longer to do
the job.
Use the right stuff for the best results.
Then again for about $300, you can have a spridget plastic media blasted
at a shop. Your gonna spend $200 in sand, chemicals, and scrapers so why
not spend another $100 and save 2 weeks time and a lot of aggravation
and mess?
Been there, done it, have the photo album, and learned not to be THAT
tight
