Larry,
I recently installed a stereo with CD in my Sprite. I used a Midget console
and took the advice of a few guys on the List. They suggested that I use
the speaker grill opening to install the stereo and use a GM radio adapter
installation kit.
I did this and it worked great! Attached is a photo. Sorry that I don't have
a
side view as it shows that the adapter positions the stereo about 1 1/2"
proud of the face of the console. Also, the angle of the console eliminates
interference by the gear shift knob during CD insertion/removal.
Currently, I am replacing the rear interior panel behind the seats with a
walnut piece. I intend to mount two 6x9 speakers and place a glove box in
between to hold CDs. I can send a photo to anyone who might be
interested - when completed.
Good luck,
Paul
