Hi everyone,
After dancing naked the other night covered with 'clue musk', I finally got the
head back on my bugeye, and adjusted the valves (the sequence listed in the
Haynes manual for this actually worked out great). I ended up using a new
felpro
gasket which I sprayed with permatex copper coat (man that stuff is sticky!).
Over the weekend I also modified my Dellorto sidedraft for a vacuum advance
nipple, and drilled and tapped my intake for the addition of a PVC valve. I
also
sealed the hole in my ventilated oil cap, and did the best I could to create a
seal around the dipstick (good luck!).
I test drove the car for the first time last night, and It ran great! The
engine
used to 'stumble' a little when I first cracked open the throttle, but now
there
is no lag at all, and the engine revs very quickly and smoothly. I'm not really
sure if my problems were do to my leaky head gasket, or my carburetor, but in
any case, everything seems to working well now.
I also took my 2.5 year out boy out for his first ride in the car, at first he
was afraid, and 'didn't want to go' but after I made it clear that he might be
put up for adoption he relented ;-> He actually had a blast, and every time I
shifted he'd say "daddy what are you doing?". In fact, the 'Eddie Bauer' car
seat even matched my interior nicely;-)
In any case, I hope to see some of you at the show in Palo Alto on the 12th,
and
thanks everyone for your help, patience, and suggestions.

BTW - Did any of you see the ad for the 330HP bugeye in the back of 'British
Car' this month?? (Mazda 13B rotory with turbo, and nitro injection) talk about
being out of control!
