Andy,
Don't blame Mobil 1, it isn't the problem here. I'd suggest the
bearing has been on decline for a long time....
However, with so much crap throughout the engine, I'd be
hot tanking the block and cleaning out all the oil passages.
Of course you'll have to get new cam bearings pressed in after
this, but the risks of having metallic contamination are just far
too high.
I'd also have the bores honed and get new rings, welch plugs
etc etc.
