Subject: Cheap VDO gauge update - I got them, now taking orders...
Hi Folks,
Due to the great response I got from people yesterday, I went ahead and
picked up the large stock of older VDO cockpit gauges from a local parts
place. The total was about 14 boxes (my 90 Jetta was PACKED!), which I then
went through and inspected all of them last night.
I am blowing these out for $20 each (includes gauge and sender, and
plumbing adapters, etc.), plus $2/gauge for shipping. Some of the
less-complete gauges are going out the door for less. Ordering information,
along with a pretty complete inventory of what's available is on the page I
created for this:
http://www.webcom.com/wv/vdogauges.html
There are quite a few odds and ends, some things I don't even know what
they are. All of this is basically NOS (New Old stock) VDO stuff from what
looks like the 80s, though some of it predates that by quite a bit. A lot
of it seems to have been originally packaged and marketed towards
motorcyclists, but the gauges work fine with cars too. If you have a
particular need, (and esp. a VDO part number!) feel free to email me.
Please feel free to repost this to any list or BBS that you think might be
interested, esp. any motorcycle-oriented lists - there's quite a few items
unique to bikes among this stuff. (Speedos, cables, drive-adapters, etc.).
As for what is available, here's a quick rundown: 60+ elec. oil/water temp
kits. 20+ elec. oil pressure kits (or can be used for high-pressure fuel I
suppose), a few ammeters, cyl. head temp, fuel level, and various other
gauges, both with and without senders. Good collection of tachs and
speedos, mainly designed for motorcycles but perhaps adaptable to cars.
Many odds and ends, various senders, gauge mounts, spare parts, etc.
Unfortunately, there were no: EGT/Pyrometers, voltmeters, low-pressure fuel
pressure, boost/vacuum gauges or clocks. >:<
Please check the page above for details on how to order these, and I'll
post pics there of some of the more esoteric Gauges this week. This is all
a first-come, first-served sort of thing, and a private non-profit venture
on my part. I just would rather get these in the hands of some racers that
can use them rather than seem the languish for years in a parts warehouse.

(apologies to any who get this more than once. I sent this to the lists
from yesterday, and also to everyone who replied individually, so as to not
miss anyone.)
