Well folks I am running out of things to check. Last night I bought some of
that cooling system clean out product and ran it through the system. I also
run with the water valve for the heater removed and a straight through
connection back to the pump. I never use the heater anyway. After the clean
out I added fresh antifreeze about 2 quarts of fluid the rest water. There
is no thermostat in the car just the "gutted" thermostat ring. A short test
drive and the temp went up to just over 190F. I haven't pulled the
temperature sensor and checked it in boiling water yet, I will do that this
week end. It seems to me everything is pointing to the radiator not cooling
enough. Someone emailed me a test to see if the radiator could be partially
plugged and I will try that this week end. I really like working on my car
but I get burned up (literally) when I try to be pro-active in replacing
worn out parts and it works worse after the replacement that before.
