 My 2 cents-  How about The Wrong Arm of the Law, with Peter Sellers?  There 
is a MkII Sprite with a hardtop, and a fast Aston Martin.   For chases in 
general, don't forget the French Connection  with Gene Hackman driving like a 
madman under the elevated rails in NYC with a car he commendeered from a 
private citizen.
