Chance to tell a funny story.
We got there early last year and stayed at the Embers Convention Centre which
is a short drive from Carlise fairgrounds (we stayed on for Sprite Rush).
Well, the convention before Sprite Rush was the Bull Mastiff Club of America.
I don't know much about dogs but these are BIG ones. A lot of folk kept the
dog or dogs or pack of dogs in their rooms and throughout most of the
corridors there was a pungent 'doggy odour'.
As the Bull mastiff convention finished and before Sprite Rush started it
was the weekend and a wedding party were booked in at the 'Embers'. On the
Saturday evening I think it was, there was a large crowd of people outside
one room and I overheard the following conversations:
'geee, it sure does stink in there'
'what happened? did they have a kennel in there!!!'
We can only guess the rest but you could hear the sound of a hoover running,
etc.
This probably doesn'y answer your question about somewhere to stay - because
the Embers may have changed their dog policy? But it gave me a chance to
tell this story.
Carlise have a web site - I can dig it out if you can't find it.
