Hi, Frank!
Yup, the BMC manual says to heat the ring to 350 deg. C (about 660 deg.
F). It also says it might just be possible to fit the ring at a
temperature of 250 deg. C (about 480 deg. F), which it points out is the
max temperature of most home ovens, but that it is unlikely and undue force
should not be used.
I thought about doing it at home, too, but was afraid I'd get the ring
partially on and it would seize, and I'd then be up a creek.
If you're gonna do it, I'd set the oven as high as it goes and bake the
ring for at least an hour. You want to make sure the ring is stabilized at
the highest temperatures it's going to get before trying to install it.
Good luck!
