I finally did it. Cosmo (60 Bugeye) needed a clutch. With nothing but
the hints from the list and a Haynes manual. It took about 8 hours for
me as I was not out to break any records. Only had 3 "Oh Craps" 1. broke
the throttle cable at the clamp point, had a bike cable hanging on the
wall!!! 2. one of the connectors for the lights decided 3 wires was too
much and spit out a few parts.(Parts cars are nice) 3. broke the
mounting for the temp guage off of the radiator.(JB Weld is your
friend). Rear main does not leak. The oil on the motor was from the
valve cover gasket.(Go big blue). One question though...Old pressure
plate had 9 springs where new only has 6! Old one had a date code of Dec
7 1966 so it was about time for a new one. I had a hoist hook that was
left over from a Mazda pickup I used to own. I just hooked it to the
head stud with the nut from the lower generator bracket. Next run to
Pick-a-part I will shop for another bracket so I can hook to the
manifold stud or front head stud. I also used a fun book"Step by step MG
and Austin Healey Sprite service guide and owners manual" did the 15000
mile check and added a few things to the maintainence list. Discovered
my rattle in the rear was a loose exhaust bracket and fixed that. In the
70's today rained past 4 days as the Texans on the list can attest. I
heard there are some meets in texas coming up. I think we are ready
..Anybody have info as to when and where??
