Philip,

My bugeye's 948 is prepped to what was Special Tuning Stage V in the good old
days, and approximates what the factory Sebring cars were running in 1959.
The mods are: 88G-229 cam and matching distributor; , flat-top pistons; inch
and one-quarter carbs, 12G 295 head (unmodified); full balancing; LCB header
with a factory "competition" muffler; ribcase tranny and a 4:55 diff. It's
real quick to 70mph, but turning 5000 rpm from Boston to Carlisle last year
required bigtime earplugs. All that work probably doesn't put out much more
than a standard 1275. Unless you're a stickler for authenticity, I'd go
with a mild 1275 and 5 spd.
