Hi Adrian, I am in favour of the fan in front because it fits better. As far as flow goes if you can always get a bigger fan. If the breaks and you are in traffic the car will overheat. If you are not in traffic the fan should never break because IT SHOULD BE SWITCHED OFF. At speeds over about 30mph most of the cooling comes from the airflow of the passage of the car through air (don't try this on the moon!) having the fan on at the same time can work against the natural air flow.
