Depending on the humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, throttle position, etc, etc, carbs sometimes emit a shrill whistle. Quick check: Get it up to (or past) the whistling speed, drop it out of gear, let the engine idle, and coast down through the "whistle range". No whistle?
