My 59 chassis 14???, came with a gray 1 piece non spring loaded top bow. My 60 chassis 45505, came with a gray 1 piece spring loaded bow. The 2 piece bows are for MKII Sprites (to fit in the boot) I believe they were all gray (originally) I even have a gray fold down top bow from a 69 Sprite. I know the 2 piece and the MKIII bows were all gray, so were the early fold down frames. But I also have a black 1 piece Bugeye bow, I assume it was painted by someone in the past. It goes best with my yellow/black bugeye so that's what I use. The above findings are personal expieriences, I never looked in a book for verification. -- Frank Clarici Toms River, NJ The bug in the rice bowl http://www.exit109.com/~spritenut |
