Hi Frank,
Don't know on the Dot 5 oil. But for a alternate switch, you could use
a MGB brake switch. It is a non-wetted switch off the brake pedal. It
looks like it would fit into the Sprite brake pedal stop bolt hole. You
would have to maybe weld a bolt to the inside of the braket. It is only
closed electrically when it is not touching the pedal. So, adjust it to
be snug on the back of the brake cylinder rod. This way when the brake
is depressed the rod comes off the stop/switch and activates. Haven't
tried it because I'm running the old style brake fluid, and haven't had
one go bad yet.
