I had a thought on this thread. Yeah the mind still isn't quite as gray
as the hair.

You folks with the leaky heads, up front and on the carb side.
What about the length of the water pump by pass hose? Too tall keeping
that end of the head raised a bit. Maybe?
Another problem may be raised areas around the head bolts. In Vizards
book he talks about countersinking the block around the head studs.
I have done this and my only oil leak from the head was infact too tall
of a by pass hose.
