Yes, I tried that method, but found that I preferred the pliers. I kept
getting the rope trapped under the hook, or the hook would pop back out of
the hole when I relaxed the tension. Something better than rope might be
aircraft safety wire with handles rigged up, like a garotte. At least it
would be easier to pull out with the hooks seated.
