Sounds to me like exhaust clamp studs and nuts, where the exhaust manifold
attaches to the exhaust pipe.

Found some Studs,
Hey y'all, while cleaning up after this project, I
found a pair of studs with nuts, and I can't figger
out from whence they came.
They look sorta brass. But they are attracted to a
magnet so they must be plated.
They seem about 5/16"
Each stud is kinda shaped like a hat, seen from the side:

Ideas, anybody??
Gawd I hate trying to draw in Netscape!
